Team

Gavin is in the middle of his 3rd season of flag football.  Eric is his Coach and has always taken his "job" very seriously (that may be an understatement).  He is a great Coach and the boys learn so much from him.  It's no secret though, Daddy does not like to lose.  In past seasons, Gavin has not been very passionate about winning.  He wanted to play but he would tell Eric, "Daddy, it's not about winning, its about having fun!" A little role reversal going on you think?  Gavin just didn't care if they won or how well he did.  I think he did it more for Eric than "love of the game".

Well....things have changed.  Gavin is serious about football these days.  He is always outside "practicing".  He gets really upset with himself if he doesn't play as well as he knows he can.
We had planned on going to Florida for Fall Break this year.  That meant that Gavin and Eric would miss Saturday's double header.  Gavin informed us that we couldn't go to Florida.  He said that his team needed him and that he didn't think they could win without him.  I was so blown away.  My 6 year old is part of a team....and he didn't want to go play on the beach (one of his favorite things ever) because he wants to be here to play with them....win or lose.  I am a proud Mama.
